Las Vegas - There are not enough adjectives to describe this mecca to everything Big, Bold and Brassy. It assaults your senses - the noise, the crowds, the glitter and neons made us feel like Lilliputians of Gulliver's Travels. And did I mention the heat! 47 degrees is parching, making our feet and legs feel like they were being roasted as we pounded the pavement with the bottom of our shoes almost melting. We only stopped off here to do a Grand Canyon tour, which was the most amazing day in that stunning natural wonder. Transported to Boulder City by bus, we flew in a light aircraft to Grand Canyon West Rim Airport, including flying over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Then boarded a helicopter for descent into the Canyon, followed by a boat ride on Colorado River. After helicopter return to Rim, we boarded a shuttle bus to view Eagle Point where we did the Sky Walk - a glass floored walkway suspended over the Canyon edge. Then onto Guano Point for more panoramic views. It was everything expected and then some! STUNNING, despite the heat.
Back in cooler L.A. now with friends Joan and Ken, celebrated 4th July with their friends in Pasadena, have been to Malibu Beach, Long Beach by a colourful and entertaining train journey to see the Queen Mary, and a Paramount Studio Tour. So our American Vacation is ending soon, but what an adventure to add to our memories.
